The History of Adidas Shoes

Adidas shoes is yet another footwear brand born in Germany. These were the result of two brothers matching brains in 1924 to create a sports shoe. Special shoes for different sports came on the scene in 1931 with a tennis shoe. After that, they customized shoes for soccer, running, and jogging. For years, they were the shoes of choice for Olympic athletes, known for their three stripes on the side of each shoe. Sprinter Jesse Owens won the Olympic gold while wearing a pair of Adidas in 1936.

During World War II, the brothers had a falling out, the company split, and two brand names were the result: Puma and Adidas. Adidas was the combination of first and last names of one of the brothers, Adolf (Adi) Dassler. By the 1970s, they'd made their way into everyday fashion. Teenagers wanted them for style's sake, and working out for fun was a concept just beginning to take off.

However, in the 1980s, there was only one high point in their sales--a rap song called "My Adidas." By the 1990s, sales were still looking slim. However, thanks to celebrity endorsements later in the decade, Adidas shoes eventually redeemed themselves in the shoe world.

Make your sneakers into a piece of art. Have shoes no one else has. How do you do that? Color them in yourself. Adidas, as of 2006, has released a collection of shoes called The White Series that have no color on them whatsoever. They're waiting for your artistic touch. Adicolor also offers special paints and tools to use to create your masterpiece. You can also buy multi-colored shoelaces and weave them, braid them or just alternate them to create a look all your own. Visit the Addidas website for ideas and inspiration.

Shoe Selection

Not feeling the urge to pretend you're Picasso? You're in luck. You can still have the brightly colored, fun sneakers for walking, running, or playing sports that your Adicolor friends are crazy about. For example, the Men's Training P.T.shoe by Adidas has every color of the rainbow on it. They're not just boring tennis shoes.

Looking for performance? Adidas offers men's and women's selections specifically for golf, basketball, training, tennis, softball, running and soccer. They boast the appropriate weight, traction, and arch support necessary for each sport. Cleats are also available. For a stylish, state-of-the-art sports shoe, you should check out Adidas. Make a statement with your style and your performance.

The slides and sandals obviously aren’t meant to be worn while playing a sport. Wear them with shorts or jeans. They, too, come in fun colors and patterns. Women can find pink checkerboard style flip-flops and Adidas sports sandals with sleek lines and feminine colors.
