Brand Name Shoes

When Buying Brand Name Shoes Is Important
Buying brand name shoes isn't a must in all situations. You have to weigh the cost of the shoes with how much you're going to be wearing them. Don't worry about paying extra for shoes that you won't be wearing too often--those that aren't meant to look dazzling with a formal suit for work, for example. Opt for their cheaper counterparts since you'll probably be throwing them out or donating them to Goodwill next season anyway. There are two times when you will want to go ahead and shell out the cash for a pair of brand name shoes, though:
When you're shopping for work. If you're in a professional job field, chances are, you're expected to "dress to impress." Rumor has it, one of the first things a person notices about you is your shoes. Even if you're not dressing to live up to someone else's standards, you should consider great quality, comfortable shoes simply because the work week is five days long, and you'll probably be wearing those shoes quite a bit. Brand name shoes often are the product of a more painstaking process to make them more comfortable. This is especially the case in men's dress shoes. Sometimes women's shoes still can't be made comfortable, depending on the heel height and the shape of the toe box. However, those high heels will be less likely to break if you invest wisely.
When you're shopping for athletics. Exercising puts quite a strain on your joints if you're not meticulous when choosing your workout gear. Running, for example, packs such a shock that people who ran in old or low quality shoes during their youth often develop problems with their knees later in life. Shopping around not only for your perfect fit and style in an athletic shoe, but also the appropriate style for your activities is extremely important. Shoes that are not name brand shoes often skimp on arch support and shock absorption. They may not have had the opportunity to perform the same research as bigger brand names. Save those cute sneakers you got at the dollar store for running errands--not marathons.
Favorite Brands in Athletics and Fashion
Athletics
The big three in the athletic shoes world will usually have something to offer you, no matter the sport in which you choose to partake.
- Nike
- Adidas
- Reebok
Find these brands at sporting goods stores, department stores or online.
Fashion
- Jessica Simpson Shoes: Not content with a hot hubby, a music-only career or shorts with a whole five-inch inseam, Jessica Simpson has launched her own shoe line. And you know what? They're actually very cute!
- Nine West Shoes: These have the quality you deserve, and if you find them on sale, the price you want, too. They're likely to hold up better over time than no-name brands. And they look classy, to boot!
- Crocs: While these may not be exactly "fashion" worthy, they're definitely a trend right now. Knock-offs of these babies aren't usually nearly as comfortable, so if you're buying Crocs, buy the real thing! They're only about $30.00 or so and your feet will thank you.
Skimping on Your Trendy Shoes Isn't Bad
Brand name shoes sometimes have phenomenal knock-off counterparts. Even if they don't have look-alikes on the market, you should still be able to find something equally cute for less money than you'd spend on a pair of brand name shoes. Since you'll just be wearing these trendy shoes to "sit there and look pretty" in many cases, you don't need to worry as much about arch support or longevity of the high heel life. You don't expect to wear them long, because they'll be out of style by the time your next favorite fashion magazine comes out.
