From T-Shirts to Shoes
Though DaDa enjoyed near instantaneous success when it initially burst onto the scene, it lacked the key ingredient needed to legitimize the company as a force in the athletic performance industry. Despite carrying hats and T-shirts that greatly appealed to its target urban market, the company needed something more to realize its position as a leader in the industry.
It wasn't long before Lavetta Willis, the president and CEO of LL International Shoe Company, joined the DaDa team. It was her idea to introduce an athletic shoe collection to the company's repertoire in the hopes that it would launch DaDa to greater heights in the athletic industry.
As it turned out, the transition from apparel to footwear was practically an instant success. That was due in great part to Willis's determination and partner and designer Lantz Simpson's hard work and dedication. Together, they created the DaDa footwear line.

The Revolutionary Code M
"Code M" sounds like lingo straight out of an old cop drama, but it's actually a relatively new high-tech shoe from DaDa. When it first hit shelves back in 2006, it was met with great fanfare – and even a bit of disdain. Essentially, the Code M shoes are innovative little things that actually play music. You see, they're MP3 players.
Chances are you've probably heard about these already, but take a close look at the specs and you'll see just how unique they really are. The shoe, which features a rather conspicuous built-in speaker, holds up to 100 songs and boasts a six hour battery life. A wireless headset with Bluetooth capacity is also included.
How on earth could this possibly work? Well, as with so many things that would never have seemed possible even a short five years ago, it turns out it's rather simple. The shoe is equipped with a USB port on its lateral side, allowing for easy music downloads and battery recharges. The headset even picks up music from as far away as 30 feet.
Clearly designed with some sort of function in mind, the shoe still manages to pay close attention to its aesthetic. Each version is exceptionally vivid, with a bold, sparkling silver circle on each side of the smart leather upper. Choose from basic colors like white and black, or take a step in a more vibrant direction with golden yellow.
For the Ladies
Though one would expect that a company specializing primarily in athletic shoes may not have as much to offer women, this doesn't hold true for DaDa footwear. In fact, there's quite an attractive lineup of athletic shoes available for the ladies. Many will appeal to the younger set thanks to their sparkly, trendy details. Glam Slam, for instance, is indeed pretty glam – it's studded with small rhinestones and trimmed with pink leather.
If pink isn't your thing, take a peek at the Princess shoe in black. The rhinestones stand out for miles against the dark background. Label lovers will flip for the Stoop shoe, which features DaDa's logo scrolled across the bottom and a smart, very modern design.
