At least you know now; you can do your homework and make sure you get exactly the right kit for your Heelys shoes.
How to Install Them
Heelys shoes replacement wheels are easy to work with, but they may take a little bit of getting used to since they’re pressure fitted and do take a bit of manpower to get them switched out.
First, you have to remove the old wheels. You may have already experimented with this in the past, but if you haven’t, here is a brief explanation:
- Hold the shoe in both hands so that the wheels are facing away from you. You should be holding the shoe sideways so that you can put pressure on the flat part of the wheel with your thumbs.
- Now that the shoe is positioned in your hands correctly, you can push down on one wheel with both thumbs to loosen it from the shoe.
- Flip the shoe over and push from the other side. You’ll sort of be “walking’ the wheel out, little bit by little bit.
- The wheel should pop out of the shoe.
Now that the wheel is out, you can put the new wheel in:
- Line up the new wheel just how the old one was before. Press in. Your thumb is probably the best choice because it can assert the most pressure on the wheel.
- Whack the wheel with your hand to make sure it’s in there as it should be.
- Spin the wheels to make sure they work and seem to be aligned correctly.
- Stand in the shoes. Stomp your feet. You want to make absolutely sure the wheels are lined up correctly before you hit the streets.
Bottom Line
You should be able to get more wear out of your Heelys shoes than just that one set of wheels gave you. Now that you know how to locate and install your replacement wheels, you'll be on your way again.
