High Heel Strappy Sandals
From LoveToKnow Shoes
High heel strappy sandals are a staple for those warm spring and summer months. They flatter nearly everything and they take you anywhere. Slide your feet into a pair for work (if allowed) or play and see how much freer you feel.
How to Wear High Heel Strappy Sandals
First of all, make sure your feet look good. If they look good bare, they'll look good in a pair of high heel sandals that fit, no matter how few and far between those straps turn out to be. Nobody wants to see rough, cracked heels or chipped dark polish in your sexy shoes, and you shouldn't want to let your feet debut in such condition!
That being said, and now that you have manicured, scrubbed, gorgeous feet, let's take a look at the attire these summer shoes flatter:
- Blue jeans and a fitted tank or tee – nothing dresses up a casual outfit like a great pair of heels and a cute bag!
- Skirts, though remember this rule: the shorter the skirt, the shorter the heel should be. Miniskirts and four-inch stiletto heels don't go well together under most circumstances. Plus, walking around in strappy stilettos with heels that high increases your chances of falling. Ever fall down in a miniskirt? You might show a little more than your pretty feet and nice long legs. Oops!
- Shorts—yep, shorts! Heels and shorts can be worn together as long as the heel is low and the shoe is relatively casual.
What They Do for Your Look
You know heels are great for the appearance of your legs (and if you didn't, now you do!). There are two key reasons that high heel strappy sandals elongate your legs:
- The lack of bulky material around the foot makes your whole leg look longer because the visual line isn't broken up by thick bands of color.
- Heels in general make the legs appear longer by tilting the foot downward and lifting the heels. The effect really is a "longer" leg since you really do add to your height by putting on a pair of heels.
Bonus tip:
- If you choose a shoe color close to your skin tone, your legs will appear even longer because nothing will really break up the appearance of your legs from the floor up. They'll just go on forever.
Must-Have Colors for Spring and Summer
If you're going beyond the neutral basics every girl needs in her shoe wardrobe (black, white, brown, and tan), here are a few colors you should consider adding. They can perk up a neutral outfit with a pop of color, or complement a similarly hued look. Try these:
- Hot pink
- Turquoise
- Lime green
- Yellow
- Orange
- Red
Be Sexy, Be Careful
It's best not to wear high heel sandals every day of the spring and summer. Mix it up with cute flats and sneakers. Otherwise, you could cause damage to your feet and ankles. Also, be sure to plan ahead. If you know you're going to be navigating your way up or down a hill later, at least pack an extra pair of (safer) shoes.
