Hummer Footwear
From LoveToKnow Shoes
Although the vehicles themselves are on the wane thanks to consumer concerns about the environment in general and skyrocketing gas prices in particular, Hummer footwear is steadily growing in popularity, as hikers both urban and rural find the ruggedness of the shoes and boots too appealing to resist.
The Quality of Hummer Footwear
You don’t have to be a fan of the all-terrain gas-guzzler that gives its name to this brand of footwear. Hummer shoes and boots are designed to combine comfort, style and performance. If you like vegan shoes, this is not the choice for you – all Hummer shoes and boots are made of genuine Himalayan leather, carefully tumbled, tanned and treated before styling so as to create an unparalleled look and softness, as well as quality, comfort, strength and durability. Hummer footwear is meant to look great but emphasizes function above all, so that those who like off-road walking will enjoy it to the fullest and go even further than they thought possible, thanks to the support and strength of their footwear.
Styles of Hummer Shoes and Boots
Not surprisingly, the various styles of Hummer footwear tend to sport names associated with driving, and are claimed, like the vehicles, to be built from the ground up.
- The Gearbox is a hiking boot that features a full-grain leather upper, a side pocket perfect for storing keys, “Goodyear welt construction,” Thinsulate ultra insulation and Hummer’s own exclusive rubber outsole. The boot comes in black full grain, brown nubuck or what they call “olive crazy.”
- The Desert hiking boot is very similar to the Gearbox, differentiating in its lack of side pocket but featuring Hummer’s exclusive signature lining.
- The Charger is a street hiking boot with the convenient side pocket and what is described as a “direct attached Euro construction PU/TPU oil-resistant outsole.” It comes in black full grain, brown crazy and olive crazy.
- The Dial combines the look of a boot and a high-top sneaker with a rugged sole, leather upper and yellow flecks throughout the design.
- The Superior is a street boot that wears more like a hiker. It features a leather and camo fabric upper, Thinsulate insulation and the PU/TPU oil-resistant outsole.
- The Torque 254 is a serious work boot that boasts a rubber outsole for traction and durability, a sympatex lining and an upper of premium full-grain leather for comfort, durability and abrasion resistance.
- The Alpha is a waterproof boot of full-grain leather with a waterproof membrane, sympatex lining, removable molded ortholite footbed and the Hummer exclusive all-terrain tire tread interlocking log pattern outsole.
For casual wear, there are a few choices, including:
- The Panel 840, which feature soft tumbled leather uppers, cement construction and a flexible rubber outsole.
- The Condenser, a moc-toe loafer featuring the classic moc-toe stitching and a cushy insole as well as a durable outsole for all-day strolling.
- The Payload is also a moc-toe loafer, except that it features short lacing.
Shopping for Hummer Footwear
In addition to the above styles, Hummer is constantly evolving, with styles for women and kids. You can find Hummer footwear online at such sites as Zappos (although they are currently out of stock) or boot specialists Nashville Boot Co. You might be able to find a few at Shoe Buy and Amazon, although again, the stock varies. If you haven’t worn them before, it’s recommended that you buy online from a site that offers free shipping for exchanges, since you may not get the right fit on the first try. Thus far, they don’t seem to be available in brick-and-mortar stores, although this may soon change, even as the vehicles themselves slowly disappear from car lots.
