The History

Kenneth Cole shoes didn't start as a shoe store. They didn't start in the traditional ways of using the Hilton or a showroom in Midtown Manhattan. What did the designer do? Changed his company's name from Kenneth Cole, Inc. to Kenneth Cole Productions. Sounds silly and irrelevant, huh? It was the only way to rent a 40-foot trailer truck and park it in the same place as those showrooms. The only way he could get a permit for that from the city was to be a production company. So he shot a full-length film with models as actresses in a fashion center of the world. Cole didn't have to compete with over a thousand other shoe companies promoting their products in the same way. Over the course of two and a half days, Cole sold forty thousand pairs of shoes. Hello, success! He hasn't changed the name from Kenneth Cole Productions. To him, it signifies innovation, thinking outside the box to succeed quickly and using what you have to make your dream work.

New Styles
