Naturalizer Shoes for Women

From LoveToKnow Shoes

If you’re looking for style and comfort that’s about as guaranteed as footwear can be, try Naturalizer shoes for women. With 80 years worth of experience in making shoes that fit your feet and your busy lifestyle, Naturalizer knows how to keep you walking tall.

The History of Naturalizer Shoes for Women

Starting in 1927, Naturalizer went against the grain of super-high heels and shoes that looked fantastic but offered little in the way of support. By the 1940s, the “shoe with the beautiful fit” was recognized by hardworking women as one of the few brands that could be relied upon to meld prettiness and practicality into a heel that would last until you were ready for new shoes.

Understanding that women’s feet come in many different sizes, from narrow to extra-wide, Naturalizer has always used quality fabrics and design to construct shoes that work for every foot.

Feminine Design

From ballet flats to leather pumps, Naturalizer shoes for women are decidedly feminine, even as much as they are practical. Their deceptively simple design allows them to be well-integrated into both a work and play wardrobe, while still allowing their wearers to feel unique. These shoes combine the elegance of classic style with contemporary fashion, so that you can wear them with chic assurance.

Current Styles

Using bold colors, textures and designs, Naturalizer shoes are exciting to the eye and foot, and they don’t make a terribly big impact on the wallet. Some current styles offered on Zappos are:

  • Creston
    • A slip-on flat with a vaguely Moroccan design, the Creston’s leather upper and cushioned insole give you comfort, while the flexible rubber outsole and throat provide balance and a great fit. It comes in black, beige, “Camelot”, red and “tootsie brown”, and retails for $68.95.
  • Prissy
    • Only this shoe is anything but prissy. If you think Naturalizer shoes are for elegance and comfort but you have to go elsewhere for glamour, think again. The Prissy is a sexy strappy sandal with a 2 3/4 inch heel, leather upper, lightly padded foot bed and elasticized ankle strap. It comes in twelve different colors and fabrics, so if you like it, you can indulge in a black velvet and pink pearlized leather and look like you’ve spend a million bucks when you’ve only spent $63.95. Customer feedback extols the arch support and the cuteness--although many warn that it feels a half size smaller than marked, so bear this in mind when shopping.
  • Dunlay
    • Fun summer sandals in strappy braids with metal accents, the Dunlay also features an adjustable slingback strap, flexible rubber outsole, lightly cushioned foot bed and a 2-inch heel. It comes in black, bronze, coffee bean, Camelot, red and white and is $63.95.
  • Dory
    • When you think of Naturalizer shoes for women, the Dory is probably what comes to mind, because it does look like a more feminine Birkenstock. However, it’s a very popular summer shoe, well-liked for its comfort, and with a 1 1/2 inch heel, you won’t feel too much like a hippie. It comes in black, flax, navy, saddle tan and white leather and is priced at approximately $45.95.
  • Shine
    • And shine you will in this linen espadrille with a macramé-wrapped wedge in a sexy but still comfortable 2 1/4-inch heel. The slingback features side-stretch goring for a better fit and the foot bed is lightly padded. It comes in denim, natural, brown and pink, but the hands-down prettiest is the floral, which is delicate and lovely and would go as well with jeans as any summer dress. Customers report that the Shine can feel a half-size larger than marked, as well as narrower and that the arch support is only moderate, so this may not be the shoe you want to turn to for a whole day of wear, especially if you’ll be standing or walking a lot.

Try to Try Them On

Even though Naturalizer prides itself on making comfortable shoes that fit well, and of course the ease of shopping online really can’t be beat, you should still try and buy your first pair at a shoe store where you can try them on and get a genuine sense of the fit. That way, you can walk out of the shop with a lively spirit in your step.
