Nike is an American based company with their world headquarters in Beaverton, Oregon. A sports apparel and shoe brand that formed with a partnership between two running geeks at the University of Oregon, Phil Knight and Bill Bowerman. This simple beginning piloted thirty-three years later to a world-dominated sports empire. The Nike organization extends throughout the world in six continents, employing over 24,000 people. A global company that manufactures performance products and markets empowering messages, it sells its athletic footwear with a mission quoted by Bill Bowerman, “if you have a body, you are an athlete.”

Phylon

What is phylon? A common material in Nike shoes and sandals, phylon is compressed EVA pellets. Known for its lightweight and highly responsive material, phylon creates an outstanding shoe sole that conforms to the foot, provides a spongy resistance and doesn’t add significant weight to the shoe.

Nike Sandals for Women

The current assortment of Nike sandals for women offers three types: water sandals, thongs, and slides.

Water Sandals

The Teresina water sandal at Nike is designed for use in and out of the water. A specialized foot bed for extra grip prevents your sole from slipping within the shoe. It also provides extra traction with the textured design of the shoe’s outsole.

Thongs

Three main types of thongs are in the Nike sandals collection:

• Leather--The softness molds to your foot with a rubber outsole for durability.
• Combo--Arrangement of leather and phylon creates a comfortable performance thong.
• Synthetic-–Includes foot bed slats for breathability and drainage, plus is quick to dry.

Slides

For those times when you need an easy on-and-off sandal, the Nike slide is just the shoe. With phylon construction, these are lighter weight and sturdy.

Nike Sandals for Men

The most recent product line of Nike sandals for men provides only two models: thongs and slides.

Thongs

These come in a variety of school sports team colors and beach styles, and all Nike thongs provide non-slip outsoles. Two main materials are used in the men’s thongs:

• Leather
• Synthetic--Phylon, Mesh and Rubber

The current selection provides an assortment of versions incorporating one or all of these elements.

Slides

Men’s slides from Nike are made from a synthetic leather strap and phlyon sole. They provide Velcro for a custom fit and are available in versions to massage your feet or provide waffle traction.

What about the kids? They certainly have some options in Nike sandals too.

Girls

• Sunray Sandal--Available in a variety of girly colors, this sandal is designed from a stretchy Lycra strap and sturdy sole. The sandal provides good traction for active play time.
• Thongs--A basic model with a comfortable curved sole and sturdy construction.

Boys

• Santiam Sandal--A true multi-purpose sandal that could really be used by either gender. Made out of synthetic materials, it provides a lightweight, sturdy sandal with good traction. Great for water play as it dries quickly and the hook-loop Velcro assures these shoes will stay on those active little feet.
• Sunray Sandal--Same design as the girls’ model, but with more masculine colors and patterns. The stretchable Lycra, rubber sole cup and adjustable fit make for a great kids’ sandal.

Sandals at Nike
