Red Shoes

Why Every Woman Needs a Pair of Red Shoes
Red shoes. They're one of those fashion essentials that the glossy magazines never tire of telling us we should own. A fabulous pair of red shoes will help jazz up any outfit, from your oldest and most faded pair of jeans, through boring workwear to evening gowns. They're classic, fun and sassy. While shoe fashions come and go, the red shoe remains a favorite of designers all over the world.
Red itself is probably the boldest color around. Red is the color you wear to get noticed--not to fade into the background--and red shoes are no exception. If you're thinking of buying a pair, you'll need to think carefully about when you'll wear them and what you'll wear them with. Red shoes are dramatic, fun and sexy, and you'll want to bear this in mind when you're putting together your outfit.
Choosing Your Red Shoes
Despite being hailed as a fashion classic by magazines and designers everywhere, red shoes remain difficult to wear. These aren't the kind of shoes that will look good with everything, and you can't simply sling on a pair of red shoes without thinking about the rest of your outfit and accessories. Not all colors look good with red. If you're wearing red shoes you'll need to put a little more thought into your outfit than you perhaps would ordinarily.
Much, of course, depends on which shade of red you're wearing on your feet. A pair of Oxblood red pumps for example, will be much more versatile than bright, cherry red stilettos. When choosing your red shoes, remember that a very bright red can look a little cheap. Deeper, more earthy tones, on the other hand, are easier to work with, and create a more classic look.
What to Wear
Depending on the shade of red you've gone for, you'll be able to wear your red shoes with a range of different colors. Neutrals such as cream, beige, taupe, black and grey look great with red. A pair of pointy-toed red stilettos peeping out of the bottom of black trousers can be a great look for work, and red shoes are a good way to add interest to an otherwise dull suit or dress.
If you'd like to go for a more colorful look, some shades of red can look good with green, too, although be careful or you could end up looking like you stepped straight out of a Christmas card! If you'd like to try wearing red and green together, use the colors sparingly. Try teaming your red shoes with a green sweater or cardigan, with a more neutral color in between.
Blue jeans of any shade will also work well with red shoes, and, as with your business suit and classic black pants, the shoes will help dress up a look which could otherwise seem unimaginative.
Colors to avoid when you're wearing red shoes include pink, purple and other shades of red. Although certain of these shades may work with red shoes, they will often clash, and are probably best avoided. Even if you've managed to find a red suit or dress that's a perfect color match for your shoes, think carefully before wearing the two together. Head to toe red is a difficult look to pull off and not for the faint-hearted! Instead, you may want to try accessorizing your shoes with a red handbag, belt, scarf or gloves, for a look that's dramatic without being overpowering.
