SAS Shoes for Women

From LoveToKnow Shoes

Since 1976, SAS shoes for women have been outfitting women who want comfortable walking shoes, often in hard-to-fit sizes. The fact that they are still a family-owned business and all their shoes are made in the US just makes them that much more desirable!

Advantages of SAS Shoes for Women

SAS shoes are made for comfort, not fashion, and they are for women who spend a lot of time on their feet and don’t want to spend their off-hours soaking those poor feet in a foot bath because they decided to opt for something stylish rather than practical. SAS shoes are also perfect for those who suffer bunions or other foot problems. They are not orthopedics, but can certainly be worn by anyone who needs some extra support.

The two main styles beloved by those who demand all-day comfort are the wedged heel lace-ups and moccasins. Both are great for either standing or walking – whether for sport or when shopping or traveling. The shoes are very well made and flexible, so they’re up to whatever your feet demand.

SAS also makes sandals, although these are not going to offer quite the same amount of comfort, simply because they are not as supportive. However, if you can’t do the high-heeled strappy sandal and yet want something appropriate for summer, a pair of SAS sandals should do the trick.

One of the biggest advantages of SAS shoes for women is that they come in a wide range of sizes. They gauge widths by slim, narrow, medium, wide, double-wide and, for a few styles, triple-wide. Shoes start as small as size 4 and go up to size 12. The sandals go up to size 13.

Styles of SAS Shoes for Women

The most famous of SAS shoes for women are the Free Time, a lace-up walking shoe that provides excellent support and cushioning. It is a nicely flexible shoe that works for a variety of feet. The capacious toe box will allow for bunions, swelling and hammertoes. And if space is needed for an orthodic, the shoes’ insoles are removable. SAS also manufactures the insole for sale separately, so that you can order replacements and thus keep your shoes much longer than you might have expected. They also come with an extra set of laces. And, if you have problems working with laces, there is an “EZ lace” option, which requires only one pull to either tighten or loosen the shoe. The shoes are available in mocha, white or black.

If you prefer to forgo laces, the same basic shoe, only this time called the Me Too, is available with a Velcro closure. And if you want the same base, insole and toe box, you can get the Clog, which is a backless version of the Free Time.

The SAS Classic moccasin is a slip on shoe with a light wedge. If you get them in black, they won’t look like comfort shoes at all.

There is also the Whisper, a lace-up Oxford with plenty of cushioning. The foot bed is designed to mold to the shape of your foot, allowing for unique comfort. The Whisper has a strong built-in arch support and a soft-step heel. Its foot pad is designed to cushion your foot’s pressure points and absorb shock. And of course, there is plenty of room in the toe box. They are available in mocha and black.

The Softie is a smarter slip on loafe with a kiltie tassel. It features SAS’s trademarked Tripad comfort cushions and lightweight soles.

Worth the Effort and Money

SAS shoes are a bit more expensive than other comfort shoes, but bear in mind that they are hand-sewn and hand-lasted. This makes each shoe special. You also have to shop for them in person, since there are almost no online sources for buying them. However, since fit is so very crucial, it is absolutely worth the trip to the brick and mortar shoe store.
