Thigh High Boots

What Do Thigh High Boots Bring to Mind?
The average person probably thinks of sex appeal and lingerie stores at the mere mention of thigh high boots. Black patent leather probably accompanies those initial thoughts, as well. In reality, they were originally designed for men. They were also worn in public. In addition, they were functional as well as fashionable. Thigh high boots have come a long way since their origins in the 1600s.
What people sometimes don't realize is, the boots were originally made for soldiers, pirates, fishermen, and horsemen--not for the bedroom. In England where they were prevalent, the boots were loose at the top and able to fold over. The lower parts of the boots were tight-fitting. According to this site this type of boot was called the Cavalier and turning the top down was done when a man went into town. He could show off a glimpse of colorful silk stockings that way. In this method of wear, the footwear was a fashion statement more than anything.
The soft leather was a method of protection for the military; these boots were heavy duty. As for the pirates, they used them for storing booty during raids because of the extra room in the tops, called buckets.
Soldiers have moved on to other types of footwear. Pirates have found new ways of taking treasures from other people's boats. Fishermen have a new type of boot to wear. Over time, the thigh high boots have shifted from men to women.
Now thigh high boots are racier. They're sexy. They're available in shiny patent leather in red, white, black and more. You're also not likely to see them in town on an average day, either, unless you're visiting a lingerie shop and viewing them on shelves.
Where to Get the Sexy Boots
There's not much of a market for the types of thigh high boots sold to pirates and soldiers anymore. What you can get, though, is the sexy kind.
- 3Wishes.com offers a selection of thigh high boots to die for. Find them in fishnet, with six-inch heels and patent leather wedges, mostly in black. If you're looking for a knee-high boot, this is also a good site to visit.
- QueenFashions.com has just about any style of thigh high boots you could want in sizes 5 to 16. You can get chunky heels or spiked ones, lace-ups, zippers or even red.
- PierreSilber.com doesn't have a large selection of styles, but if you visit quickly, you may be able to snag a pair in silver glitter or gold. Other colors include red, white and black.
What's It Like To Wear Them, Anyway?
Surprisingly, thigh high boots seem to be quite comfortable. The reviews of the Espace Road, Pleaser USA Legend and Pleaser USA 8868 from Zappos both got great reviews on both comfort and look.
While they're not normally seen around town, that doesn't mean you can't wear your thigh high boots in public. The reviewers on the sites above did, and they seemed to enjoy the attention! Just make sure you're prepared to turn heads and get honked at a time or two, because, girl, you'll be incredibly sexy.
Where Have We Seen Them Lately?
Thigh high boots are everywhere you look!

Savannah Blu online shop has some stunning thigh high boots at reasonable prices, my favs are the metallic gold and baby pink
They are surprisingly comfortable, Lou Lou! They're also especially cozy during the winter. It's a different and stylish alternative to the typical winter boot. Of course, don't wear them if there's ice out there! Thanks for your comment!
