The Vans Shoe Style

Vans are more than just skateboarding shoes. They have been skateboarding shoes since 1966, but they've branched out to much, much more. They make snow shoes, surf shoes and even shoes that are great for riding dirt bikes.

Vans

Vans are available for men, women, boys, girls, toddlers and even infants. This line even offers apparel for adults, as well as accessories like belts, handbags and backpacks. The Vans line is truly ready to outfit you in their gear to give you a pulled-together, skater/punk look. The company seems to cater mostly to teens and can be found at stores like Hot Topic, also popular among pre-teens and teens.

Vans are skater, punk, a bit goth and fun. They're trendy and comfortable, and best of all, you can make a statement without scaring your grandmother. Bright colors and edgy patterns make these shoes special enough for you to love. Since they're not as permanent as, say, pink and blue hair, your elders will love you for choosing them instead.

Where to Buy

Custom Made For Your Style

The Vans homepage offers you the option to make your own Custom Old Skool pair, or choose a Custom Slip-On.

The Old Skool

Choose the tongue color first, from a palette of colors and patterns. Then choose whether you're a man, girl or boy in a menu. Pick your shoe size and you're on your way to creating your dream shoe. Next, you're taken to an empty canvas shoe. You choose the colors for the laces, toecap, heel counter, quarter, foxing, foxing stripe, tongue, tongue binding, collar lining, and eyerow. These shoes are truly your creation; no part of the shoe (except the bottom of the sole) is a color that you didn't handpick from a palette.

The Slip-On

The Slip-On works similarly to the Old Skool shoe. There are a few less choices because of its simpler style, but you still have complete control of your creation. Choose the colors of your collar lining, elastic gore, vamp binding, vamp, foxing stripe, foxing, quarter and heel counter.

For someone looking for the most unique pair of shoes, this is one type you should consider. High school especially is a place for bright colors and being original. These Vans have both.
