Wolverine Boots

From LoveToKnow Shoes

For hard work or rugged outdoor activity, Wolverine boots are what men and women turn to time and again to be comfortable and aid their productiviy. Having been in business for over a hundred years, Wolverine remains cutting-edge and contemporary.

History of Wolverine Boots

Wolverine World Wide, originally called Wolverine Shoe and Tanning Company, was founded by G.A. Krause in 1883 and the factory made 300 pairs of sturdy work shoes each day, quickly building a reputation for high quality and dependability. During the Depression, they kept the factory open to retain employment and stored what shoes weren’t sold. After World War II, sales skyrocketed, and Wolverine boots were in demand around the world.

A Commitment to Comfort

From its onset, Wolverine has used the best leathers and materials to make its footwear and has established itself as the industry leader when it came to comfort. Determined to prove that a dependable shoe could also be a comfortable one, Wolverine developed DuraShocks, a comfort system that made work boots lighter and last longer. That system has been steadily improved with the addition of slip resistant soles, further encouraging safety in hazardous work environments. The Compressor Technology allows for greater flexibility and keeps the foot cool and dry. Wolverine’s most recent improvement to their already comfortable footwear is Multishox, and they have no intention of resting on laurels as they continue to develop boots that will get wearers through even the most arduous day in ease.

Styles of Wolverine Boots

Most styles come in either soft toe or steel toe. The steel-toed boots are, of course, heavier, so only choose these if your work or activity poses the kind of hazard that requires such a level of protection. You can further narrow a search if you need boots that are electrical hazard certified, waterproof and insulated or slip and oil resistant.

Men’s Lacers and Wellingtons are a good choice for hard work, especially in wet, oily or otherwise slippery conditions. There are nineteen styles of this boot, in lined and unlined varieties, depending on your need.

The Wolverine work boot, Hikers, is a shorter boot. Most of the soles in the varied styles are resistant to oil, water, abrasions, chemicals, heat and slippage. These boots are not to be confused with the Rugged Outdoor Hikers, which are specifically for hiking and thus designed to be more lightweight and flexible.

Wolverine also designs boots specifically for hunting, although obviously these can be used for any serious outdoor activity.

Where to Buy Wolverine Boots

There are many sources online for buying Wolverine boots, including their web site, Wolverine.com, but if you are new to Wolverine, you should instead use the Store Locations tab on their site to find a retail outlet near you. Most military supply stores carry them, for example. If you are shopping for boots for construction work, factory work or any other work that is physically demanding, you have to try them on first to be guaranteed of not just a correct fit, but the right feel based on your need. While many of the boots are very similar, it is the differences that are important, and you want to make an informed decision. The high quality of Wolverine boots necessitates a slightly higher price than some work boots, but they are an excellent investment that you and your feet will be happy you made.

If you know what you need in a boot, you can save money and time by shopping online. In addition to the official site, Wolverine boots can be purchased on:
