AJ, there are a few good reasons not to put your Converse shoes in the dryer. Since the toe guard is made of rubber, the machine may destroy it (or worse, it could pose a fire hazard). Individuals who've put their Converse shoes in the dryer have also reported that the color fades and that the shoe itself shrinks. Leave it out to air dry or run a hair dryer over it.

True, Jamie! But this was before the company was bought out by Nike in 2003. The "original" Converse may best be described as all-American.

You say that converse are all american, but didn't the last converse manufacturing plant close and move to asia after converse went bankrupt in 2001?

Heather, thanks for your question. It's time to throw together a little concoction consisting of white vinegar, baking soda and hot water - 1 tablespoon of each. Mix until it creates a paste. Use an old toothbrush to scrub the mixture into the tongue and rinse with warm (not hot) water. Allow them to dry and repeat if necessary. Good luck!

I love my all stars but how in the world do I get them to come clean? I have a pair of brown & pink ones and the tongue is pink and extremely dirty! I used a sneaker cleaner but didn't work @ all. What can I do?

Hi Vic, thanks for your question. You have a couple of choices when it comes to wearing socks with your Chucks. Many people just plain don't like to wear socks with Converse shoes, but still want to wear something protective. In that case, you can purchase a package of no-show socks, which are cut very low and don't peek out of the shoe.

If you're looking for something thicker or more substantial, consider a pair of quarter length or crew socks. Hope this helps.
